School Dinners

St Chad's school dinners are all cooked fresh, on site, by the school's catering team. We provide healthy and tasty meals for everyone. If your child has a dietary need, please contact the school office.

Our menus are nutritious, delicious and varied, and we run a three-week schedule of meals throughout the term.

Please click the relevant menu at the bottom of the page to view the menus for school meals this term.

Week 1 (w/c 13 Apr, 4 May, 1 Jun, 22 Jun and 13 Jul)

Week 2 (w/c 20 Apr, 11 May, 8 Jun and 29 Jun)

Week 3 (w/c 27 Apr, 18 May, 15 Jun and 6 Jul)

Free School Meals at St Chad's Catholic Primary School

We would like to make sure parents understand the different types of free school meals available, so you can access everything your child is entitled to.

Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM)

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 automatically receive a free school lunch every day, regardless of your household income. This is called Universal Infant Free School Meals and is available to all pupils in these year groups at state-funded schools.

You don't need to apply for this – it's automatic for all infant pupils.

Mayor's Free School Meals (London)

Your Key Stage 2 child (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) is also eligible for free school meals through the Mayor of London's scheme, which extends free meals to all primary school children in London.

You don't need to apply for this separately – they will automatically receive this provision at St Chad's.

Benefits-Based Free School Meals (FSM) and Pupil Premium Eligibility

Even if your child already receives a free meal through one of the schemes above,  it's really important that you still register if you receive certain benefits. This is because:

  • It unlocks additional Pupil Premium funding for our school (currently around £1,455 per pupil per year)
  • This extra funding helps us provide additional support, resources, and opportunities for your child
  • Your child will continue to receive free meals throughout their time at primary school, even if your circumstances change.

Who should register?

Your child may be eligible if you receive any of these benefits:

  • Universal Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (with annual gross income of no more than £16,190, and not receiving Working Tax Credit)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying)

Important changes from September 2026

From September 2026, all previous eligibility will end.  All families will need to be re-checked, and all children from households receiving Universal Credit will be eligible for free school meals, regardless of household income.

However, Pupil Premium eligibility will remain based on the current criteria (Universal Credit households with income less than £7,400).

How to apply for benefits-based FSM

Please complete the form Annex 1 below, and email or hand it into the school office.  Paper copies are available from the school office.
Please contact our school office if you need any help with the application.

Please register even if your child is already receiving free meals – it makes a significant difference to the support we can provide.

If you are unsure whether you qualify, we strongly encourage you to apply, as many families are eligible without realising it.
