Mrs Harwood & Miss Mirfakhraie
In Reception our aim is to make sure that children feel settled, confident and happy coming to school. We also strive to build supportive and positive relationships with children’s families. The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum emphasises the development of the whole child and it is through strong relationships between home and school that we support the holistic development of the children in our class.
The Foundation Stage Curriculum is made up of seven areas of learning and development. These are divided into three prime areas and four specific areas.
The three prime areas are:
- Communication and Language
- Personal, Social and Emotional development
- Physical development
These are then supported by specific areas that strengthen the prime areas. The specific areas are:
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Development in the prime areas enables the children to go on and master the skills within the specific areas.
The children enjoy many new and wonderful experiences from day to day as they learn and explore these different areas of development in their stimulating and educational environment.
Topics will change regularly based on children’s interests and needs.
Black jogging bottoms, black shoes - Velcro is preferred, yellow polo shirt with St Chads logo and black jumper with St Chads logo. The uniform is available to purchase at Bubblegum in Thornton Heath.
Please make sure all your child's clothes are clearly named and that they are able to put their shoes and coats on by themselves.
We also ask that you provide a change of clothes - these do not need to be school uniform - in a bag on your child's peg. We will use these clothes if your child has a toilet accident, if they get wet or if they get dirty outside. We will send it home each half term to wash.
