Week 8

Week beginning Monday 15th June, 2020

Maths

This week we are revising addition and subtraction methods. On Monday we start with addition of four digit numbers. (No exchange) The powerpoint for each day can be seen below.

Cross-Curricular learning - Blue Abyss - 8:

Blue Abyss 8 is available to download below. This week we are learning about tropical and bioluminescent fish! We will also look at the story of Jonah and be writing in role. There are no additional documents required to download for this week's learning. There are 5 days of work. Each day is signified by the number in the top right-hand corner. (Art, Science, Literacy, RE)

PSHE - Equality

A completely optional lesson on equality is available to download and to discuss as a family. Please read the guidance on the PowerPoint before starting. The PowerPoint is child-friendly and aims to promote understanding and kindness to all.

PE/Exercise

It is incredibly important that we keep our bodies healthy too. At 9am every school day, Joe Wicks livestreams a workout for children on YouTube. Just type in 'PE with Joe' just before 9am. He also does quizzes to test your minds whilst you exercise! Sometimes there is even dress up challenges! You could also go for walks, bike rides, exercise or play sports in the garden - whatever you have access to and can manage. Stay fit, eat healthily and get enough sleep at night.

Guided Reading

Please do continue to access 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' text and study guide under the first home learning tab. After you have finished, you could watch the movie or read the sequel! If you have done that, you could read a book together, related to the ocean! I would recommend: 'The Tale of a Toothbrush: A Story of Plastic in Our Oceans'. But any book would be suitable. Ask your child a series of questions related to the text and make sure these go beyond just picking the answers from the page, but also encourage the child to think more deeply.

RE

For the next 4 weeks, an RE document will be upload (1 word document per week). The document includes detailed parental guidance and some background knowledge required for teaching the activity. It is important that these lessons are completed with an adult. Push your child's thinking and help them to make religious or personal links, where possible.

Spanish

I have reuploaded the Spanish resources for those who have asked for them.  Remember, online and YouTube have some fantastic resources to support teaching/learning Spanish, too!

General

Remember to read and practise your times tables everyday for at least 10-20 minutes.

This website has lots of games, videos and learning for all subject areas: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/

Spag.com and MyMaths.co.uk

This is EXTRA learning for if all the work from here has been completed, or to be completed in ADDITION to the work set here. Challenges may sometimes be reset if the result shows the student could do with more practice. Please do reattempt these when they are set.
