"World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world."

On Thursday 1st March,  it is World Book Day. This is an event that takes place every year to celebrate our favourite authors and stories and the pleasure of reading. To make the day really special all the children may come to school on that day dressed as their favourite book character.

During the day, children will have stories shared with them, be able to talk about their favourite authors and books and also take part in lots of book related activities in the classroom. It should be a really great day so it would be lovely to see lots of children dressed as their favourite characters.
